I’m currently 48 years old with a 60-gram prostate. Cancer has been ruled out through testing, but my urinary symptoms—specifically a very weak stream rather than frequency—have reached a point where I need medical intervention. My urologist recommended some minimally invasive options, but the potential side effects are a dealbreaker for me. I discovered Prostate Artery Embolization (PAE), which seems to have a better safety profile, and I finally secured a referral to an interventional radiologist to explore it. I’m hoping to connect with guys my age facing similar BPH issues. What procedures have you tried, and how effective were they? Has anyone here opted for PAE? I’m trying to gather as much first-hand info as possible.
Look into the Rezum procedure. I went through it this past July, and my flow is back to how it was when I was a kid.
I was in the same boat at 48 with a similar prostate volume. I actually ended up in the ER during a trip to Las Vegas because I suddenly couldn’t urinate at all. My advice is not to delay treatment; at the very least, learn how to use a catheter yourself just in case of an emergency. I was lucky I wasn’t in a remote area when it happened. Be aware that Rezum can cause significant swelling initially, potentially leaving you unable to pee without help for a few weeks. You should compare Aquablation to Rezum, and also look into Optilume, which uses a drug-coated balloon. I’d suggest checking out the Prostate Health Podcast to help you decide. Just make sure you act before things get critical.

I’m in my early 50s and struggled with urinary issues for seven years until things got significantly worse recently. I just had the PAE procedure this past Friday. Feel free to message me if you want to talk about it. Honestly, I’d say go for the PAE now—it’s a huge relief.
