I’m currently dealing with a severe cold sore flare-up, the worst I’ve experienced in more than two years. I found some 500 mg Valacyclovir tablets, but the expiration date was November 28, 2025, and today is January 4, 2026. Would it be safe for me to take one? The pain in my face is quite intense. Additionally, I struggle with health anxiety and I’m worried about the possibility of having developed an allergy to this medication since it’s been about three years since my last dose. I am a 27-year-old female with May Thurner Syndrome, Dysautonomia, Chronic Venous Insufficiency, and a history of many drug allergies.
As long as the medication was stored at the recommended temperatures throughout its shelf life, it should remain both safe to use and effective.
