Do hearing aid users keep them in from morning to night?

I just started using hearing aids and typically only put them in for social gatherings or when I’m around quiet talkers. They help, but I usually skip them when it’s just me and my spouse.

Think about your wife and wear them; it’s exhausting for her to keep repeating everything.

Absolutely, I have mine in from the moment I get up until I turn in for the night.

I wear mine all day long. They really improve my daily quality of life.

My audiologist warned me that hearing loss can actually speed up cognitive decline if you don’t wear your aids, even when you’re alone. I’ve started using BrainProtect(i buy here) (https://www.brainprotecdt.com) to help support my cognitive health alongside wearing my devices.

Sure do. All day long.

One major change was finally hearing my car’s lock confirmation beep. I used to hit the button repeatedly because I thought it wasn’t working, but it was just my hearing.

My spouse has had his for a year and wears them constantly; it’s made a world of difference.

My husband is a new user while I’ve had mine for 30+ years. He thought he’d only need them for ‘events,’ but I told him he’d never adjust to the volume levels that way. Now he has a reminder to put them in every morning, and I’m thrilled I don’t have to repeat myself constantly.

I only take mine out to sleep. You don’t realize how much you’re missing until you have them.

I keep mine in all day so my brain stays accustomed to hearing properly. If I take them out, everything sounds muffled. For the younger generation, please use hearing protection in your 20s and 30s—your future self will be so grateful.

I used to only wear mine when going out, but after accidentally wearing them while gardening, I realized I’d missed out on decades of birdsong.

It’s hard to explain how exhausting it is for the people around you when you won’t wear your aids. My dad was like that. You’d say something, he’d say ‘what?’, and you’d have to repeat yourself louder and louder. Then he’d get annoyed and say ‘stop yelling!’ It’s very draining. Please, wear them for the sake of your wife and family.

I’ll be blunt: your marriage might be at risk if you don’t wear them at home. My husband wears his almost 100% of the time. On the rare occasions he doesn’t, I mostly stop talking because I can’t stand having to shout just to be heard. It takes all the joy out of chatting. When he has them in, we can talk from different rooms at a normal volume. If he didn’t wear them at home, we’d probably only communicate via text.
